Explore Materials: dichroic glass
Description
Mold-blown Dichroic glass is made by blowing hot glass into a mold made of clay, wood, or metal. Glassmakers create decorative vessels by glass infusion with micro-layers of metal oxides. It creates artistic designs - the colors shift depending on the angle of view. Custom infusion is available.
Dichroic glass contains 30-50 micro-layers of metal oxides which give the glass the colors shift depending on the angle of view and never can be predicted. Images can be formed by removing the dichroic coating from parts of the glass by laser.
