Polyurethane is a safe, flexible and rigid material. Unlike rubber, it has higher load-bearing capacity, better compression set, superior tolerance to greases, oils, oxygen, and ozone. Lasts longer than rubber. Avoid too much water - see rubber for water applications instead.

Extremely durable, excellent resistance to weathering and UV. Withstands and retains flexibility at extreme temperatures (-94° F to +662° F) at high pressure. Poor abrasion resistance. For a higher abrasion resistance use natural rubber and polyurethane.

Hard plastic, thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) is slightly softer than polycarbonate (PC) and more flexible, but still not as soft as silicone and rubber and has no as much grip. Poor temperature resistance - softens and deformities at high-temperature.

Weather-resistant aluminum for indoor and outdoor application.

Brass, a man-made alloy (copper/zinc), has more resistance to corrosion than copper but is not as resistant as bronze. Can crack much more easily than bronze or copper. Looks similar to gold. Has antimicrobial and germicidal properties. Lighter in weight than cupper

Copper base metal. Stronger than aluminum, heavier than brass. Has natural metallic tones ranging from reddish to silvery, and several other colors can be obtained by chemical or electrochemical processing. Extremely resistant to corrosion. Possible green discoloration over time.

Bronze, copper/tin alloy, is less expensive than copper and more resistant to corrosion (but not immune). Compared to brass, it costs more, is harder, heavier, and is more brittle. Reddish-brown in color. Resistant to saltwater corrosion.

Zinc, strong heavy metal, as an alloy is less expensive for casting small forms than aluminum. Corrosion resistant.

Stainless steel is one of the most durable alloys, can corrode when exposed to chemicals, saline, grease, moisture, or heat for a prolonged time. Less expensive than copper. Compared to aluminum it is heavier, shinier, with a tint that is more silver than grey, and more expensive.
